Looks Can Be Deceiving

Even if your stumps look fine from above, you never know what they might look like underneath! Stumps like this are more common than you might think.

Wooden Stumps

Many things can destroy wooden stumps, ranging from old age, fungus, termites, and moisture. Even treated stumps are often hollow (with nothing but the treated circumference remaining below the ground). Even if your stumps are fine, that is not the end of the story. Have you checked your ant caps lately? We often find ant camps which have rusted through, or perhaps your house has been levelled but they did not bother filling the nail holes in the ant caps when the nails were cut. This can have quite serious consequences if there are termites around.

Don't risk it! If you're in Queensland, simply call Brad's House Restumping And Levelling and we'll see what we can do. If we can't help we will try to put you in contact with someone who can.

Steel Stumps

Even if you have steel stumps, there are a number of important factors that you need consider. Did they put concrete domes around the bottom? If not, the soil may hold the moisture and rusts them off below ground level in as little as ten years (depending on the weather).

We use hot dipped steel stumps with 30mm thread adjustable tops. They are particulary good for black soil as they allow for more adjustment.
